Node type 2 is P-node (unicast directed datagram =
IP).
Node type 1 is Broadcast node, which does not work, =
and node type 8 is
Hybrid Node, which is common for direct dial remote =
access solutions, which
tries WINS first and then reverts to Broadcasts, and =
finally LMHosts lookup.
This option works as well as type 2, P Node though if =
the initial attempt to
communicate with WINS fails, broadcast is of no help, =
but LM Hosts may be
configured, in which case it finally reverts to =
that.
These options allow remote clients to obtain all the =
necessary server
addresses, and configure the proper node type for =
encrypted tunnel independent of a DHCP server and as =
an alternative to
configuring the options statically on each individual =
remote client machine.
